Why don't cats eat cat grass?

  • Cats don't eat cat grass because they don't have hairballs in their bodies, so they don't actively seek it out to eat.
  • Cats may not like the taste of cat grass, so they refuse to eat it.

In this case, owners can choose to replace cat grass with hair removal creams, or chop the cat grass and mix it in with canned food, fish, or other meals. This usually produces good results.

  1. No hairballs in the body

Cats eat cat grass to remove hair from their bodies. If a cat doesn't actively eat cat grass, it might be because there are no hairballs and thus no need for the cat grass to help with hair regurgitation. In this case, it's recommended not to force the cat to eat grass, to avoid causing stress reactions.

  1. Dislike of cat grass taste

Feeding cats cat grass is actually to increase their intake of roughage, promote gastrointestinal movement, and help digest hairballs, preventing hairball syndrome. However, due to varying tastes among cats, some may not eat cat grass. If your cat genuinely refuses to eat cat grass, you can directly replace it with a hair removal cream. Although the ingredients are different, the effect is the same.
