Why did my cat suddenly become distant?

1. Holding a grudge

If the owner has recently scolded or beaten the cat due to its mistakes, the cat may develop a grudge and distance itself from the owner. In this case, the owner can try to reconcile with the cat by offering its favorite snacks and playing with it using toys it likes.

2. Lack of companionship

Cats also need attention and companionship. If the owner hasn't spent much time playing with the cat, the cat may become solitary and unwilling to interact with people, gradually distancing itself from the owner. Therefore, even if the owner is busy, they should try to spend more time playing with the cat to deepen their bond.

3. Jealousy

Cats have a keen sense of smell and can detect odors that are invisible to us. If the owner has come into contact with other cats outside, their own cat may become jealous and resentful, leading to a lack of interest in the owner. So, if the owner has been around other cats, it's a good idea to change clothes and wash hands upon returning home to avoid causing offense to their own cat.

4. Illness

If the cat has suddenly become distant and disinterested in interacting with the owner, it's possible that the cat is ill. The owner should closely observe the cat for symptoms such as loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, increased body temperature, and others. If any of these signs are present, it's essential to seek veterinary care promptly.
