What to pay attention to when giving cats deworming!
Cats mainly eat meat, especially raw meat contains a large number of parasites, which can easily infect cats. Therefore, we need to do a good job of deworming our cats, but there are many small details we need to pay attention to when deworming cats. Do you know what they are?
1. Choice of deworming medicine

Cat deworming drugs can be divided into internal and external deworming drugs. Common internal deworming drugs for cats include Milbemax, Bayercat, and Strongheart. Common external deworming drugs include Strongheart and Frontline. All of these are imported deworming drugs, but domestic broad-spectrum deworming drugs can also be used. Although imported deworming drugs are much more expensive, cats only take them a few times a year, so it's better to buy imported deworming drugs. After all, pesticides are toxic, and if used incorrectly, tragedies can occur.
2. Dosage of deworming medicine

Deworming drugs are toxic, so一定要 follow the instructions in the manual when feeding them, especially with internal deworming drugs. The cat's weight must be measured before using the drug to calculate the correct dosage. Sometimes there may be leftover medication, and if you feel it's a waste, you can feed it to stray cats.
3. Preparations before and after deworming
Before deworming a cat, the cat should take a bath. After completely drying off, the dewormer should be dropped on the cat's neck. Do not give the cat a bath for one week after deworming. Feed the internal dewormer to the cat 3 to 4 hours after eating, and then fasting for 5 to 6 hours to ensure efficacy.
4. Do not use external dewormers that contain bath products
A friend once asked me about external deworming information. I told him to buy a drop-based drug. But he didn't buy it and listened to the pet store employee's introduction of a product to bath the cat with water. After using it, he consulted me and I immediately realized that this dewormer could not be used, but it was too late, his cat died of poisoning.
Cats have very special skin structure. Toxic substances can penetrate into their bodies through the skin. In addition, cats have a habit of licking their hair, so if you use dewormer, it can lead to poisoning.
5. Do not use collars for external deworming
Most flea collars are made of DDT, which is toxic to cats.
6. Pay attention to observing cat feces after deworming
A few days after deworming, there will usually be dead parasites and eggs passed in the feces. If there is diarrhea, it's best to consult a doctor.
7. Pay attention to the cat's mental state after deworming
After deworming, if the cat has poor digestion, vomiting, diarrhea, or even fever, these symptoms should improve within 1 to 2 days. If the situation persists for several days, it's best to consult a doctor.
