Dog has black diarrhea but is in good spirits may be due to food issues, indigestion, parasite infections, and other reasons. - Food issues
If a dog accidentally eats cold or expired and spoiled food, it can stimulate the gastrointestinal tract and may cause the dog to have black diarrhea. Therefore, the owner should think back and see if there is a problem with the food recently given to the dog. If there is a problem, stop feeding that type of food immediately and feed the dog an appropriate amount of probiotics to regulate the balance of intestinal bacteria.
- Indigestion
If a dog eats a large amount of food at once, it can cause gastrointestinal indigestion and diarrhea. Particularly foods high in protein, such as animal internal organs and raw meat, if the dog eats too much, it will cause black feces. Therefore, the owner should always follow the principle of feeding small meals frequently and let the dog develop good eating habits.
- Parasite infection
After the dog is three months old, it should be regularly dewormed. If the owner has not given the dog deworming for a long time, internal parasites such as roundworms and coccidia will breed in the dog's intestines, causing the dog to have black diarrhea. Sometimes even worms can be found in the dog's feces. Therefore, the owner must regularly deworm the dog. It is generally recommended to perform internal deworming every three months and external deworming every month.
