Do dogs need to change their dog food?
It is usually not recommended to frequently change dog foods because each change represents a stress response for dogs, and some dogs react more strongly, easily leading to vomiting and other situations. If you are unsure which dog food is suitable at the beginning, you can gradually switch to a new dog food by following a step of reducing the old dog food by 10% each time, which is more suitable for dogs.
Is it good for dogs to change their dog food often?
Changing dog food frequently is not good for dogs. Dogs generally need an adaptation period after changing dog foods. Frequent changes can lead to poor appetite, which is harmful to dogs. Regularly changing dog foods can easily stimulate the stomach and intestines, causing symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal pain, and vomiting. If dog food is changed frequently, dogs may become picky about food and refuse to eat dog food.
How long can puppies change dog food?
Usually, puppies can be switched to adult dog food after 8 to 12 months of age. It is recommended to feed puppies with milk formula and powdered milk mixed together after weaning, which helps improve their nutrition and immunity. Three months later, puppies can be switched to puppy dog food. Many breeds of dogs aged 8 to 12 months are approaching adulthood and can be switched from puppy dog food to adult dog food.
Points to note when changing dog food
It generally takes a seven-day transition period to switch from one dog food to another. Gradually switch dog foods and feed probiotics during the transition period to help with digestion. Also, different dog foods are suitable for different age stages of dogs. For example, milk formula is suitable for newborns or nursing dogs under three months old, puppy dog food is suitable for underage dogs, adult dog food is suitable for adult dogs, and all-stage dog food is suitable for dogs of all ages. Do not blindly choose dog food or change it.
