How to distinguish between male and female cats

You can distinguish between male and female cats by observing their size, facial shape, personality, the distance between the anus and the urethra, and the structure of their external reproductive organs. There are certain differences in size, personality, and external reproductive organs between male and female cats. You can determine whether a cat is male or female by using the methods mentioned above. Male cats generally grow faster and their size usually surpasses that of female cats.

  1. Size

Male cats are larger in size and weight compared to female cats. Female cats are smaller and lighter in weight. You can judge whether a cat is male or female by observing their size.

  1. Facial Shape

The facial shapes of male and female cats differ. Male cats tend to have chubby cheeks and a round face, making them feel soft when you touch them. Female cats usually do not have chubby cheeks, and their faces are more slender than those of male cats.

  1. Personality

Male cats are usually more affectionate, liking to rub against their owners and attract their attention. They also enjoy playing actively and usually dislike sleeping quietly. Female cats have a milder personality, generally preferring quiet sleep and not being as attached to their owners.

  1. Distance between Anus and Urethra

If the anus is two to three fingers away from the reproductive organs, and the shape is similar to a colon, it is likely a male cat. If the distance between the anus and the reproductive organs is relatively close, with one or two fingers separating them, and the shape is like an inverted exclamation mark, it is usually a female cat.

  1. External Reproductive Organs

Male cats have a penis and testicles, while female cats have a vagina.

If you cannot determine whether a cat is male or female using the above methods, it is recommended to take the cat to a regular pet hospital promptly, so that a professional veterinarian can judge and help you understand whether your cat is a male or female.
