Why do Ragdoll cats like to bite people?

Ragdoll cats may like to bite people because they are going through a teething period and lack things to grind their teeth on, so they end up biting people randomly. Secondly, when cats are scared, they will also bite randomly to protect themselves, which is their instinct. Additionally, if owners often use their hands to play with their cats, the cats will eventually treat their owners' hands as toys to bite.

  1. Teething

Ragdoll cats usually begin to teethe at the age of 3-4 months. During this period, their teeth itch, so they will have the urge to bite things. At this time, the owner's hand becomes their perfect chew toy. If this is the case, owners can provide their cats with chew toys or treats to alleviate their discomfort. Also, owners need to supplement their cats' calcium intake to prevent crooked or loose teeth due to calcium deficiency.

  1. Being Startled

When Ragdoll cats are scared, they will bite randomly out of instinct. For example, taking cats for baths or trimming their nails can make them feel scared and anxious, causing them to suddenly become aggressive towards their owners. In this situation, it is recommended that owners do not approach their cats blindly and let them calm down on their own.

  1. Interaction with Owners

Ragdoll cats are naturally active and playful. They like to use biting as a way to interact with their owners, which is their form of communication. However, sometimes they can be too affectionate and lack self-control, biting their owners without realizing how hard they are biting. Combined with their sharp teeth, this can easily lead to accidental injuries. Therefore, it is advised that owners use toys like catnip mice, feather wands, or laser pointers when playing with their cats instead of their hands.
