Tapeworms are a common parasite, usually caused by dogs contacting the feces of infected animals or eating unclean food. After a dog is infected with tapeworms, it will show the following symptoms. Owners should be vigilant and pay more attention to their dog's condition.
Early stage of tapeworm infection:
In the early stages of tapeworm infection, the symptoms are usually not obvious, mainly characterized by the excretion of yellowish loose stools. This usually does not affect the dog's appetite.
Late stage of tapeworm infection:
As the number of tapeworms in the dog's body increases, the damage to the intestinal tract becomes more severe. At this point, the dog will exhibit the main symptom of tapeworm infection: bloody stools. This is characterized by blood at the end of the stool, and a distinct smell of blood decomposition.
In the late stage of infection, the dog will gradually lose weight and its fur will become coarse. In severe cases, it can even cause hemorrhagic enteritis, and the dog will die due to intestinal wall ulceration and infection.
